Roof Geometry

The roof shape (or geometry) is one of the biggest contributors to the wind resistivity of home. The style of roof on your home has perhaps the largest impact on your wind insurance rate.

Watch this video for more information about Hip vs Gable Roofs

Verification Method

Roofs that are completely Hip or Gable are easily identified. However, complex shapes used in many of todays modern homes require meaurement and calculation to determine the home predominant roof shape. To be considered a Hip roof, 90% of the roof must be of a Hip design, with no attached flat roof breater than 100 sq ft.
